The Advanced Settings dialog allows you configure the advanced features of CrossOver Linux Standard. Most users will not need to adjust these settings.
The CrossOver settings tab provides access to settings that affect the way CrossOver interacts with your browser and desktop.
Browsers.
This option lets you choose which browser CrossOver should use to handle
URLs. For example, to tell CrossOver to use Mozilla, type the corresponding
command name, that is mozilla
, into the
field. You may also browse to the browser executable using the
button.
Plugin Directories. This field should include the plugin directory for each browser on your system. CrossOver plugins will be linked to these directories when activated on the Plugins tab.
Recreate CrossOver menu. If your original CrossOver menus become broken or lost, click the
button. This will recreate the menu entries that launch OfficeSetup, simulate a reboot, etc.Launch all .exe files using CrossOver. When this option is selected, CrossOver will instruct your system to launch all .exe files via CrossOver's default bottle. This means that you should be able to launch many Windows programs by double-clicking their icon in a file browser.
Be aware that, in some Unix email clients, enabling this option will also make it possible to run Windows executables attached to emails thus increasing your susceptibility to email viruses and trojans. However, to mitigate this risk, CrossOver tries to detect such attempts and asks for confirmation before running suspect executables.

If you installed as root, then the Recreate CrossOver menu and Launch all '.exe' files using CrossOver options will only be available to the root user. |
Directories for shortcut scripts. Anytime a Windows software installer adds an item to your menu, CrossOver also attempts to create a command-line shortcut for that menu. These shortcuts are placed in the directories specified by this setting.

Anytime CrossOver creates a new bottle, it copies the bottle's settings from a standard template. The Bottle Defaults tab allows you to modify some of these standard settings so that all newly-created bottles take on your custom settings. Most of these settings correspond to those set on the bottle settings tab. ![]() |
